About Us

Katie Kling is the founder of Yellow Dog. After years of working in both the for profit and nonprofit world, including 15 years in education, Katie decided to jump into the world of entrepreneurship and start Yellow Dog. She is excited to be able to provide professional pet care services to busy families who want the best for their dogs. She lives in Crozet with her husband, Chris, and their two silly mixed breed dogs, Cameron (aka Doodleberry, Doobs, Cam, The OG) and Quinn (aka Quinnafred, Baby Girl, Quiver). Cam is the inspiration behind Yellow Dog.

Katie has volunteered as a foster for the Memphis Area Golden Retriever Rescue (MAGRR) in Memphis, TN and also volunteered at the Charlottesville Albemarle SPCA as a dog walker. Katie is a certified Fear Free Pet Sitter and holds dog First Aid Certification. She is also a member of the National Association of Professional Pet Sitters (NAPPS).

Our approach to working is grounded in the goal of building confidence in your dogs. We prioritize the safety and happiness of all dogs and believe in fostering trust and joy in every interaction. We use gentle handling techniques and read canine body language to minimize anxiety and promote comfort with the animals we work with. In addition to meeting the physical needs of your dogs, we also focus on enhancing your pet’s mental and emotional well-being through highly personalized experiences, based on the personality of each dog. While we are not certified dog trainers, we are eager to work alongside you and your trainer to build a consistent set of skills that will make your dog a happy and fulfilled member of your family.
